Car Handrail Design:
The DDA mandates that one side wall
of the lift car must be equipped with a handrail. According to the act, the
handrail should have a diameter between 30 and 45mm, with the top section
having a minimum radius of 10mm. The height of the top of the gripping part should
be within 900mm from the car floor. Additionally, the handrail must be set off
from the wall by at least 35mm to allow for a comfortable grip. All handrails
must also have turned ends to prevent any snagging of occupants in the car.
